Some of the clothes have now been checked and lorries ordered to take them away.

When you book a collection, put some actions in place to spot check the bags before we come to collect. This will raise awareness at the school that we recycle re-use-able clothing. There is still quite a lot of clothes here in the warehouse to go through which is a really big task, finding toddlers disposable underwear and clothes with food stuck in pockets is no fun and naturally of no use to anyone!

Collections that now come in will not be able sorted through but we will spot check them when they come off the van. We will be calling the school head teacher if any of the loads come in with the wrong items. As a business we cannot find the funds to employ several staff members to check each bag, as you can imagine, this would be a huge cost and not viable.

Please remember, your collections matter to both those that receive the clothing in the developing countries and also the other schools that collect on the same day, as these bags do get mixed up in the back of the van each day while on the route. We do not want other schools losing money due to wrong items being collected!

Following on from the above message, we find some schools are not paying attention as there are many more that have sent in uniform, duvets, pillows, damaged clothing, soiled clothes.

Some schools that collect the correct reusable items are getting delayed payments due to the time it is taking us to try and sort through the loads as they come in, which is unfair but there is nothing we can do at this point in time.

There is a call from many of the good schools telling us to name and shame, this is not something we want to do but it might come to the point that we will put the school collection photographs on the web showing the uniform on top of the pile!

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated on this, so feel free to call us in the office on 01633 235 923.
