Back in June/July we gave notice of the price change due to market changes. We also gave details of the trust we placed with schools to ensure that they use our media to advertise the collection or at least include our A5 information leaflet with a newsletter.
The last two weeks we have been looking through the bags that have come in and have found a great deal of black bags with content such as soiled bath mats, ripped clothes (not fashioned), single shoes, worn out shoes, school bags with sandwiches and yogurt spilt inside, pieces of fabric with the clothes pattern readily attached not to mention clothes that simply have passed their use as a wearable item for anyone.
Again, WE CAN NOT take this type of recycling. We are recycling re-useable clothing that goes to developing countries as affordable clothing.
This has now caused yet another backlog of clothes to go through which is resulting in further delays to our payments being sent out to schools, which is on top of the fact we are already in one of our busy periods – Details to follow soon of the additional delay.
Most of the schools that we have collected unsuitable recycling from have been informed, however there are some that we have simply not yet got to their collections to assess the load.
As a business we are addressing this with the utmost of concern and hope for everyone’s understanding while we decide what action to take to avoid this affecting all the schools that do such a great job of their collections.
We are happy to talk to anyone that has any concerns with their collections and would suggest that if anyone is collecting black bags at school to go through them before we get there. With that in mind consider if you do collect from the local community – go through the bags to make sure there is no rubbish in the bags!
